Anyone have any experience of buying a bike from Cycle Lane via the web? I'm interested in what was required in terms of assembling the bike when it arrived, general dealing with them and in particular any dealings with them in resolving a warranty claim.

I know I can call them and discuss these matters with them but I'd like to get any inputs before I do that. I've tried "Googling" to try and find any review of them but haven't found much. What I have found looks fairly positive but seems to be based on dealing with them in their shop.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I've not used their online shop but I live fairly close to the Cathcart branch and they are pretty good. They stock a few of the less mainstream brands - Felt, Moda - to name two. They offered me a good deal on a new bike last year, I opted for something else as it turns out but I found them good to deal with and use them regularly for bits and pieces.

Thanks for the feedback. From what little I'd previously found about them I'd got the impression that they were fine as a LBS and most of it related to components, accessories etc as opposed to bikes.
Buying a reasonably expensive bike online is always a bit of a act of faith in terms of the service one can expect (not the quality of the actual bike). Their bike prices seem pretty competitive but being at the opposite end of the country to them does mean that any problem resolution would have to be done remotely hence the post here.

Strangely enough the "something else" I opted for came from the south of England, so I understand your concerns. It was a bike they didn't stock (Bianchi) although I did almost plump for a Moda they had in the shop that had been donated by one of the Commonwealth Games cyclists, just a tad small for me though.

  • If they have something you want i wouldnt hesitate in using them. A great shop to deal with. I regularly travel 80ish miles to use them.
