Does anybody own these bibs?

Just trying to get an idea how much difference having that 1/4 missing makes? im interested in getting some for spring, but wondered if they'd actually be any cooler or just feel like i was wearing full length bibs anyway.

I have some of the s7 shorts that im really happy with, but these 'look' perfect to fill the gap between spring and summer.

  • Bib knicks, for me, offer great protection. You can wear them down to low single figures and they are good into the mid teens. Very versatile.

But, the Assos are expensive. Excellent, but expensive. See if you can get some Castelli Sorpasso 3/4. Just as versatile and much cheaper.

I own the TK607 knickers and they are excellent. you can wear them down to low single figures and up to around 20degC without problems. I believe Assos are renewing their range of winter knickers, so you might be able to pick the TK607s up at a reduced price in the outlet store in the not too distant future.

I have a pair...they're excellent. As above, they're good down to low single figures and OK up to high teens. Very well made, superbly comfortable, expensive but worth it.

Ribble have an Assos promotion at the moment - not sure how keen their prices are but there is also an 8% discount you can enter at checkout.

I would have thought with roubaix bib shorts being available (and pairing with knee warmers), that bib knickers were redundant?

Personal choice. As stated above you can easily wear bib knicks up to the mid teens, even higher. So unless your expect a low figures start and a 20 degree finish, there's much less faff in bib knicks.

They're also often better protected in other areas, such as the groin, with windproof material etc, so they are better at lower temps than roubaix shorts which have no such protection.

Then there's comfort. Knee warmers can be a bit less comfy depending on what you get.

  • Ok cheers guys, gonna get some but i'll hang on a few more weeks and see if they do come down in price.
  • I'm not sure they will. Much.

Assos have renamed the tights of the old 607 etc to Habu and Bonka.

They've renamed the old 607 shorts to Tiburu.

But there's no sign of renaming the 607 knicks as yet. You may as well try and get them now.

  • well the weathers still a bit chilly to use them at the min anway, so no rush to get them straight away. I'd be looking to use them between the 8-14 degree range and we're not quite there yet.
  • They can be used in far less than that. TBH, if the weather stayed above 4 I'd be in knicks more often that not

They are in the process of replacing the whole winter range with an S7 range. They started with the tiburu and the others will follow. the tiburu is more than just a rename, it's a completely different model. They are definitely not the old 607 shorts.

Indeed. I've just looked at a picture. It's amazing that they've chosen the look of underpants over lycra shorts. ;)

interestingly, they are using a DWR treatment on the tiburu, or AWR (Assos water repellent) as they call it!

Playing catch up with the likes of castelli etc.

I have the 607 bib shorts and use them with the matching Assos knee and leg warmers, probably the most versatile bit of cycle clothing I own, the warmers match perfectly and as usual with Assos kit work brilliantly well.

I have them and the lighter weight version (434?). Got great deals on both and a worthy investment. Washed in the net bag and no stretching or degrading of the lycra. Use the 607s down to as cold as I'm happy to go out in, about 2 degrees.
Rrp is mental though they will last.
Only issue I had was rubbing behind my knees, but that was on a 13 hr ride !!!

Well ive been wondering if i might be better off going for the 434's

You guys keep saying you can wear the 607's in such low temps, so im worried im gonna be overheating in double figures. I get warm quite quckily on the bike anyway and im usually one of the first in shorts in spring, it amazes me sometimes when i see people out in full tights when its mild and im more than happy with shorts on

You won't overheat in double figures. I wear the 607s all the time when it is between 10-18deg or so only when it is around 20degC do the shorts come out
