Has anyone tried, do they help and does Zee or Saint work with Sora or 105 Shifters?
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

    they stop chain slap, yes.

i'm led to believe that (10 speed) road and mtb shifters have different cable pull ratios

You can't use 10speed MTB with 10speed road shifters.

You can use a clutched SRAM type2 rear mech with Shimano 9 speed road shifters (you need a small spacer on the mech cable clamp I believe).

Only really a benefit on rough surfaces or if running a single front ring when a simple chainguide would suffice or a CX narrow wide ring, I can't see why you would want one on an on road bike.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
