Uploading Map from Bikely to Garmin 810 HELP!!!

Hi all

Apologies if this is in the wrong area, not sure where it best fits but here it goes...

I'm trying to download a route from Bikely.com to my Garmin 810 but i'm really struggling.

When I click download route, it saves the file in internet explorer as a .XML file. I've tried putting this straight on to my garmin but it doesn't work. From what I've read, I think I need to change the file format to .gpx but I don't know how to do this. Any help would be greatly apprectiated as I've just wasted a few hours of my life i'll never get back :(

    Download the file and in the window that opens asking you the download location, change the filename to xxx.GPX then in the box below change it to All Files. Once downloaded copy the file to New Files on your Garmin.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
