"A taxi insurance advert showing a cyclist lying on the floor, apparently having been hit a black cab, has been branded ‘inflammatory’ and ‘in bad taste’."

It's an advert. Poor taste, lazy stereotypes, and using fear to sell a product that might not help anyone anyway are pretty much a given.

    Hey, sounds familiar.

Is probably a common gut reaction from most cabbies I suspect.
  • Cyclists and taxi drivers have never gotten on but it appears like all out war at the moment.

Swap the wording and it's why cyclists wear cameras.

But this is something that should be managed by the licensing authority so that neither the driver nor the fleet operator can delete the footage. I doubt cabbies would be keen on having cameras, data loggers, tachographs and GPS trackers imposed on them as a condition of their continued operation.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
