Couple of questions about my Garmin 510

Hi,
Been using my Garmin 510 for a few months now and have a couple of questions. Firstly, this weekend i did a turbo session with the device monitoring HR and Cadence etc and for some reason it thought that it travelled 15 meters. Is this normal?
Also is it best to keep the device up to date? Sounds like a silly question but if Garmin are anything like Apple I'm always hesitant with their updates.
Thanks

The reason for the distance is because of GPS inaccuracy over time. A fix may put you at position X the next fix may put you in a position 1 metre from position X the next fix may put you back exactly in position X therefore your device thinks you have moved 2 metres.

Or of course that it gets a bogus fix indoors (example: through a window) - which is why you should disable the GPS when indoors.0

Just plugged Garmin in to mac and it automatically up mated to the latest firmware without me going through any kind of set up. Is this normal?0

Yes, especially when you're indoors it's try to get a GPS lock and it will often be inaccurate. I do the same tracking using my iPhone and it's usually done e.g. 0.1 miles even through I've gone nowhere.0
