Any one own one of these?
Thinking of pulling the trigger but can't find many reviews online.

I can't offer any advice specifically but the zero 9 does seem to be a bit of a forgotten child sitting somewhere between the Izoard/GT and the Cento Uno. I have an Izoard and have totally adored it to the point where I wanted another Wilier but I have found all the more recent paint jobs to be a bit meh. I think the zero 9 is another black bike with red decals. Road.cc reviewed one in November but they weren't raving about it as much as some other bikes. For £3k I think sadly you can do better.
  • Don't trust online reviews. A few weeks earlier road.cc were raving about it http://road.cc/content/news/132907-firs ... ier-zero-9

The Zero-9 is a big seller for Wilier outside the UK. It's essentialy a Zero-7 with a lesser carbon. Same geo, same features - so just like the two types of Scott Foil carbon. It's also used by a few Pro teams - the current US National Road Race Champion (Eric Marcotte from Smartstop Pro) won on a Zero 9 last October.
  • I've owned 2 Wilier Cento's - one older 2011 model and one 2014 model. A friend in my club has a Zero 9 and loves his as much as I love mine.

Whilst not directly the model you are looking at, I wouldn't change mine as not only is it a fantastic ride but gets admiring looks everywhere I go. In relation to colour schemes if you find a quality Wilier dealer they can often talk Wilier into a custom paint job (within reason) at minimal additional cost, making your frame unique.

In fact just writing this has convinced me to build up my 2011 white Cento frame and get it back on the road !! Given that it got me down Alp Dhuez in under 13 minutes its been "retired" for far too long.
  • Thanks, the one on road.cc was the only one i'd seen and it looked pretty positive, although it was a 2014 model i was looking at.

The 2014 model has external cabling whereas with the 2015 model it's internal.

I've been considering a Zero9 (or perhaps a Cento Uno) but haven't been able to actually see a Zero9 anywhere. I'm not sure about the colour scheme on the Ultegra version but the Chorus version looks OK I think.

I can't bare to part with my 2011 Cento Uno. She's starting to get a wee bit chipped and scratched now (but not too much) so she's off to Colortech in the spring for a fresh paint job. Best bike I own for going up and down.

Winstanley Bikes are doing the Athena 2014 model for £1799, good discount..

Yeah mine has a few battle scars so would be great if you could keep me updated on the Colourtech service and finish as I may well follow suit on this at some stage.

I looked at the ones in Winstanleys around 3 months ago before I bought my Kuota and it's without doubt a lot of bike for the money. There were 3 things that put me off buying one,

    1. It was a bit above the budget I'd set myself
    2. The external cabling although easier to replace just looks untidy and a bit dated to me
    3. I couldn't see one built up. They got one down for me to take out of the box and look at and the frame is a thing of beauty but this was the deal breaker for me, I needed to be able to sit on it at least.

    Cracking bike though IMO.

I have a 2010 Cento Uno which has the unfortunate geometry for rear derailleur cable routing. That has been a bit of a pain and I got a Colnago C59 to replace it. Thing is though, the gears are okay now and the bike is a joy to get out on. Not quite as comfortable as the C59, but great great fun always instilling a wish to go faster and not sure I'll ever get round to selling it on.

The 2014 (at Winstanley's) seems a good deal but I think I'd prefer to go for internal cabling. Also, the colour scheme is pretty similar to my Mortirolo and I'd like to have something different.

C59 owner here too. Good tase northpole ;-)

The C59 covers all the bases - it's the dog's danglers. But the Cento Uno is defo up there with it. They're both keepers.

OP - buy the Zero 9. I'm sure it'll put a big smile on your face this summer :-)
  • I have a 2014 Zero.9 in Black/Red/White , and I love it.
Bought the Athena version for £2500 and am currently changing over to Dura-ace (prefer shimano)
The frame is very stiff and feels fast, I think this is down to the size of the BB which is 386evo.
I am not overly bothered by external cabling although I have switched to continental brake set-up (rear/right-front/left),as this tidies up the front end.
It is a better bike than I will ever need but I hope to get the best out of it this summer with a few trip to France to tackle some big hills. Going down should be fun, it got a little hairy on my Alu Montegrappa doing 50+ last year.
I would highly recommend buying one especially if you get a discount, which could then be spent on some better wheels.

I have a 2013 Cento 1 SR in red as I didn't want black. I did consider the Zero 9 but I always wanted a Cento 1. The Cento 1 is a lovely bike to ride and a lot nicer to ride than the 2010 Gran Turismo I previously had.

I have a 2014 Zero 9. I bought the Athena one from Wheelbase, and put all my Chorus 11 on it. I love it to bits, especially how stiff the BB386 is. The only faff for me was the fact that it only comes in a compact, which I didn't want. Obviously my existing Ultra-torque wasn't compatible, so I ended up buying a Campag Over-Torque chainset (Campag's answer to BB386). Looks great, but added another £250 to my cost.

It's a lovely bike, not too different from the geometry of the Izoard I had before, both stiff and comfortable, a combination Wilier seem to be very good at. It deserves good wheels - I've put my Shamals on, and it's probably all the bike I'll ever need now.
  • Those of you that own one - any pics?

None that do it justice I'm afraid.
When I get the new wheels and the sun comes out I will take some.

    Old wheels and December filth.
  • Thanks Alan, lovely looking bike even with the December dirt!
  • 2015 Fulcrum Zero's going on it next month.
    Will put up some pics.
  • Bought the 2015 Zero 9 Ultegra version two weeks ago. Dropped the chain off the small ring the first week and chewed up the paint around the bottom bracket, not impressed! Front derailleur is heavy to shift up, dealer had a look and thinks the cable hole isn't correctly drilled so there is a very sharp change in angle from the bottom bracket up to the mech. It's already starting to cut through the cable guide. It's being sent back to ATB next week. It's a lovely bike to ride but I'm not happy about the mech issue for a bike that retails at £2500!

An old thread revived... as I posted on it earlier I thought I'd update it as I ended up getting a Cento Uno SR.
Just love it and it's fully lived up to my expectations. I've done around 3,000 miles on it since March this year and have kept my Mortirolo on which I still take out and enjoy.

Sorry for being a bit late with the photos, but this is how she looks now with Dura-ace 9000 and Fulcrum Zero Carbons.

looks a decent bike, and the 9 was actually a better bike than the early 7 which was a bit of a noodle, they changed that on the more recent models and stiffened up the front end. Ignore the naysayers.
