Any ones had this with a pair? Managed to get Scott to replace?

They are only just over 1 year old  walking to my bike (with cleat covers) and thought, that feels weird, then find this:

Why not give the UK distributor a call?:

    UK Branch
    Unit 3 Baker Road
    Nelson Park West
    Northumberland
    Cramlington, NE23 1WL
    United Kingdom

    +44 1 670 712 129

    +44 1 670 712 058

Or before doing that, phone a store like Westbrooks, who have a good relationship with Scott and might be able to advise you….

Maybe those 50m add up ?

If you wear them 4 days a week and you do that 40 weeks a year - then thats 8km or 5 miles you've walked in them ?

But yeah worth calling the shop or distributor.

    Really? not heard that before.
Thought it was more that people do not like walking in them lol.

As long as you do not do anything silly in them they should be fine shouldn't they?

Indeed, I didn't realise either, I shall have to get my man servant to carry me to and from the garage from now on.

I am not stopping at the cafe anymore. It could get very expensive!

Cycle shops should have a sign up by the shoes saying 'All breakages must be paid for'.
Either that or insist customers remain seated whilst trying them on
  • I contacted Scott direct, but perhaps ill give a shop a ring. Maybe where I bought them from would be a good idea.

I'm pretty sure it's not a carbon sole. And it's hard to see how it can have much to do with walking, unless you're jumping in them, (or running...)

I have a pair of these, and they both have cracking starting in the same place as yours. But they've had two years of hard use and are looking quite tired overall. Try the dealer.

Wasnt going to say anything but I didnt think that the pic looked like carbon at all... some kind of other composite material.
Just had a look at my 8 year old Gaerne shoes.. Carbon Fibre logo and visible weave on the underside.
I think I walked about 4 miles back home after a crash in 2010 in them. Pretty indestructible by all accounts.
Let us know what the outcome is.
My other shoes have these Boa things, I'm more concerned one day that wire is going to snap.

So now carbon is off the hook, Boa is in the firing line eh.

Wise to stash a couple of cable ties in the back of your saddle bag just in case, but I think you are safe re the wire snapping.

Personally I would trust the Boa more than some ratchets, in the same way I trust carbon more than some composites.

Don't let your dog eat the Boa though
  • Shoes going back to where I bought them. Be about 10 days to go back to Scott and get an answer.

I do wonder if we need the shoes as used by the pros. In winter I ride in some cheap MTB shoes - thicker so they're warmer - but just a metal insert in the sole rather than my carbon summer shoes. Great for walking around in - you can walk through cafes without falling over (Time atac cleats rather than Looks too) - these were about £20 and have lasted me well over ten years -maybe 20 ?
  • I have some mtb spd shoes I could use (change pedals over) but my overshoes wont go over them.

Stupid as both are DHB, you would have thought they would have made them fit, lol.

They did. You just bought the wrong size for them

MTB shoes are more chunky than road shoes. Mine do fit into my cheap PX overshoes - they're pretty generous on size.

Not carbon. Specialized have a habit of refusing warranty on S-Works shoes that have been walked in. Probably have better luck with Scott.

Same happened to my friend twice. First time he got them replaced by the store. Second time he was not so lucky.

As for me, despite my sympathy for these shoes, having learned by his example I bought a pair of other shoes. However, I still have the MTB version of Scott Team Boa shoes for about three years now, and surely walked lots of kilometers in them without any troubles.
