Dura Ace hub dimensions

Can anyone shed some light on this info on the Shimano website re: DA 9000 rear hub?

Center To Flange (Left) 56.9mm (Flange Distance:56.5, Dish:9.95(Only For 28H))

I have the 28 hole rear hub ready to go. The measurements I have "found" elsewhere suggest 36.5/16.5mm flange distances L/R so am not too sure how to use the numbers above to arrive at anything close to that. Can anyone help please or even give me any re-assurance on the actual dimensions? Ta.

(Bracing myself for "measure them yourself" obviously... ;-) )

  • 38 and 17 sounds about right... don't be too anal with these numbers, they don't matter much... even if you plot 36 and 18 you get the same result plus or minus a tiny fraction of a millimetre.
Flange circle is 44 for the NDS and 45 for the DS. Use 2.4 mm as hole diameter and you're in business

What are you building? DA on Archetype 28 2 cross is 282/284

DA on Pacenti SL23 is the plan, 24x2 front, 28x3 rear. Or possibly 28x2 rear not decided yet. Likely Sapim Laser all round with D-lite or Race on the rear DS.

Mmmh, didn't build many of those, can't remember which number I used... not my thing. I did measure them at 585, rather than the 587 advertised

Is that not the SL25 with ERD of 587? SL23 is quoted as 588...

The SL 25 is actually 587, but I measured the SL 23 at 585.

Wow, that is quite a discrepancy. Maybe I should get the rims bought and measured before I even think about spokes then. Thanks.

Thanks. What rim did you build them onto just purely out of interest?

I built them for a friend, he was kind enough to let me practice on his wheels, as I was just learning

They were CX-Rays on Archetypes. 24 radial front and 28 2x on the rear.

I am thinking of doing it again for myself except, I am tempted to get some Belgium+ rims, but then I would also be going Laser on the front and Race or the DS (Laser on NDS)
