Which PX Pro Carbon size? 5'7" with 30" leg

My current bike is a size Medium Giant Defy. I am just about to purchase a Planet X Pro Carbon and am after some advice regarding sizing. I am 5'7" with a 30" inside leg which puts me at the top end of the small or the bottom end of the medium recommendations. I emailed Planet X and they recommended a medium, however I was hoping to hear from some current owners who may be a similar height or between size recommendations.
Below is the geometry for my Defy, which shows it has a 54cm top tube. That's not to say its the optimum size for me, but just the one that I bought as my first road bike, but it has been ok for the past few years I have had it.
Defy Geometry:
Planet X Geometry:
S(44) M(48)
A Head Angle (°) 72 72.5
B Head Tube Length (mm) 125 145
C Effective Top Tube Horizontal (mm) 530 547
D Seat Angle (°) 74 73.5
E Seat Tube Length Centre to top(mm) 440 480
F Chainstay Length (mm) 408 408
G BB Drop (mm) 68 68
H Standover Height (mm) 720 740
I Stack (mm) 523 544
J Reach (mm) 379 385
The small PX toptube is 53cm and the medium is 54.7cm. I have heard that the Pro Carbon is a pretty compact frame, more so than the Defy, which is probably why PX recommended a medium.

I would go for small. I had a medium which fitted well and I am a shade over 5/10
Only one bottle cage on the small if that makes a difference in frame choice for you.0 -
I'd suggest you use a frame sizing system that takes account of your body and its proportions, reference that with your existing bike, and buy accordingly. Feedback from others that have the bike you are looking to buy is great, but ultimately a bike is a bike, and there are dimensions and geometry that are likely to work well for your body on that sort of bike.0

I am 5' 7.5" with a 29" inside leg and I have the medium Px Pro Carbon.
I bought the frame cheap on Ebay. I have a 100mm stem and a 32mm setback seatpost.
The bike fits me but I do have a longer upper body than you.
I think the small would have fit with a longer stem but I wanted 2 bottle cages.0 -
5'9" and 30" inside leg, I have a medium frameKev

I would go with the medium, I have a large at 6' and it feels like it's almost too small as I have a lot of seatpost showing, so I'd say the frames come up quite small. So if you're borderline between two sizes I would definitely go with the larger of the two.0

I am the same Dimensions as the OP and I would find a 54.7cm top tube too long for me. I tend to get on better with about 53cm suggesting the small would be better. Of course everyone has different preferences so it is not possible to say that this would be right for certain.0

Or get a shorter stem if the top tube is a touch too long?
A medium with an 80mm stem maybe best.
Plus is you get one of the customisable bikes (my 105 pro carbon was customisable) then you can swap the stem for an 80mm free of chargeKev

That's of no relevance if the top tube is the length you want and you are satisfied with the saddle-bar drop; indeed having a smaller frame is generally a good thing unless you're looking for softer handling and ride quality.
It's not like buying jerseys; bike frames don't 'come up small'. As stated above, you need to have an idea of what dimensions actually fit you, otherwise it's like buying shirts and trousers in S/M/L - and any given rider will need different frame dimensions depending on what sort of bike it is. If your legs are longer than your torso or vice versa (for example) you may not end up with the ideal size if you make your choice purely based on what is likely to fit someone of your height.0 -
Where are you in the country? I have a Pro Carbon in small you can come and try.0

Being similar size to you I had a medium with inline seatpost and 90mm stem. I now ride a medium TCR and find the fit slightly more stretched then the PX.
PX was a briliant frame, some snobs call them flexy, but I think they are a great all day frame.0 -
