Sanding carbon wheels?

Hi,
I've been looking for some 50mm carbon clincher wheels, I've been offered some but they are gloss and I was ideally wanting matt. Does anyone know if it is possible to sand them with a v fine sandpaper to dull them or to add a matt lacquer finish?
Any advice welcome.
