New frame warranty.

Hi,
I've just bought a new frame and I had planned to build it myself, the same as I always do. However as this is the first time I've bought an actual new frame as opposed to second hand I've had a look at the owners manual. It says for the warranty to be valid it has to be built by an authorised dealer. I don't won't someone else to build me bike as its part of the enjoyment but as an owner of a cracked TCR frame I want to cover my censored . Is this the norm?
Thanks

The frame came with a log book which had to be completed by whoever assembled the bike. I imagine in the event of a warranty claim they would want to see it.
