Hi,

Ordering a Rose CGF and I'm not sure whether to stick to the Ritchey mono link saddle and post combination which seems to be about 100g lighter than a standard saddle. However more important than weight is comfort. Is it safer to go with the normal Ritchy seat post so i can stick any saddle on there?

My other options are a Fiziik Arione R7 or a Prologo Scratch T2

Cheers

If the seat post is single saddle specific and you aren't sure if you will like that particular saddle, yes, it is safer to go for another seat post that will accept any other saddle.

  • The saddle comes with the adapter. The link seatpost comes with a normal attachment. So, if you don't like the saddle you can still use the seatpost with a regular saddle.

Is it c.100 g lighter than, say, a Selle Italian SLR at 135g and a decent carbon seat post at around 200ish gramme or just lighter when compared to relatively heavy stuff?

I think I read somewhere that the theory is that it added to comfort, as it allowed for more deflection. No clue how true that is

Does the monolink design cause a problem if trying to use a saddle/seat pack with these saddles?

My alternative saddles are the Fiziik Arione or the Prologo Scratch T2

    Which is better?

Obviously saddles are very individual and with Rose if its uncomfortable they will exchange it within 4 weeks for a different one.

As you say it is VERY personal, but the Arione CX works for me, I have 3 of them (1 more on order soon if the Ribble site starts behaving) and a K1 too.
