Has anyone got any experience of a RETUL bike fit from Planet X? Particularly the Edinburgh branch?

They are currently doing a single fit for £75 which seems excellent value.

I think the Edinburgh branch has closed
  • Yep. Closed on Jan 11th (or rather didn't reopen on Jan 12th)
  • That's a bit concerning.

I noticed the deal on their website but it didn't mention the bike fit being available at the Edinburgh branch, so I sent them an email and they replied (today) stating that it was available in Edinburgh and to book on the website or give them a phone, went to their website tonight and it has been updated to allow Edinburgh bookings.

My mate had one at the Sheffield (Rotherham) branch. They put him into position, his left leg was over extended and he was very uncomfortable. They abandoned the fit, telling him they couldn't do it as one leg was longer than the other so they weren't able to set him up right.

I guess it depends more on who is doing the fit than the actual system used.
  • Isn't RETUL just a programme that puts you into recommended parameters devised by the creators? It might work for some people but I'd have hoped a good bike fitter should be able to set you up without a programme telling them what to do...
  • Here's the thread from the local board for local people in Edinburgh: http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpres ... p?id=14211

Looks like the Retül fit will be available in Edinburgh in due course though

No - try thinking of an experienced bike fitter utilising the additional data that the Retul system gives him - that's my experience anyway in Milton Keynes although I think they train all the other Retul fitters nationally so may be better than average.
  • I had a Retul fit in the Sheffield branch.

Many adjustments were made to my cleats, saddle height/angle during the fit. I did feel more comfortable on the bike afterwards.

Cleat adjustments were measured without the Retul system, the other adjustments were made to suit the systems recommendations.

PlanetX would only do the setup with 1 pair of cycling shoes though, which was a shame as I have a summer & winter pair.

I found a deal on the PlanetX Facebook page and got my Retul fit for £50
  • I had one at Px last year. It was ok but didn't notice any improvement in comfort etc afterwards. Did another one at the specialised concept store (freebie) and it was a much more thorough fit and I did notice a big improvement afterwards. The PX fit took all of 30 mins whereas the spesh one was nearly 2 hours in total
