silver rapide universal bike

Hello guys! I am about to buy this bicycle for 45 pounds. Cycling uphill on my crappy mountain bike every day is killing me. What do you think of it? Is it worth the price? Should I take any precautions?

    Not familiar with the Universal brand but the pics suggest that it maybe dates from the 1980's with 3 x 6speed gears and downtube shifters.

    For its age it doesn't look in too bad nick cosmetically. I would make sure you have a decent test ride to check that it is mechanically sound.

    If you're buying it just to get around on then if it rides OK - £45 is probably not too bad a figure. If you think it might be an investment that you could fettle up and upgrade to sell on then probably not worth the hassle.
