Road 105 Groupset - SLX Shifter compatbility

Hi
Using the spare parts bin I want to make up a "fitness"/flat bar road bike for the Mrs.
I have 105 Triple Chainset, Front Mech, Rear Mech and Casette - but no shifters/brake levers.
I have a left/triple SLX MTB shifter, will that work with the front mech/triple? I expect it will :?:
If I want to use a "flat bar" shifter for the rear mech, I presume I will have to buy a road version, as the cable pull on MTB to ROAD does not match the indexing. It looks to me the cheapest option would be a Tiagra type, although I have seen some MicroShift options, which would give me both shifters for the same price.
I would rather avoid Brifters, I want to keep it simple and cheap, and I think she will be more comfortable with flat bars.
Any other ideas?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I've had a Shimano Sora mech with Deore shifters on a flat barred road bike from decathlon and I usually run an MTB 11-32 cassette on my 105 CX bikes with drop bars0

front MTB shift will not have the trim function and generally have issues with triple road cranks and mechs.
rear. it all depends on the number of gears. MTB 9spd rear mech with a road 10spd shifter will work. BUT you will need to state what you are planning to use or what you have to use and people can then advise.I have 105 Triple Chainset, Front Mech, Rear Mech and Casette
is a bit short of info to be able to help."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

According to sheldon, road and mtb have different front mech cable pull. Expect your indexing to be out.0

As above if the SLX shifters are 9 speed they will work with any road derailleur, but 10 speed have a different pull and can only work with the 10 speed MTB rear derailleur, called Dynasys or somethingleft the forum March 20230
