So I picked my new boardman up today and it never dawned on my that my roof mounts for the road bikes wouldn't fit a 29er... Ended up riding the bike home as couldn't fit it in the car with the other stuff we had in! Any suggestions for what is good for a 29er? Quick google throws up a Mont Blanc discovery! Any good?

Thanks

Why won't it fit. Mine fit anything from a road bike to an AM bike.

What carrier do you have? My Thule 591 fits my Whyte T129.....so on that basis, I would recommend a Thule 591 as a suggestion to answer your question :)

My Thule proride carrier is fine with just about any bike. I have carried my road bike and 26" mtb (xc and dh bikes) and a couple mates 29ers and my daughters 24" wheel hybrid. I don't think fat bikes will fit on there though.

The A frame clamp didn't fit around the frame and the front wheel is hanging over the edge of the rack even if I could attach the frame. It's just a cheap halfords special that I currently use.

Nothing to do with it being a 29er then!
Get yourself a Thule 591 carrier, you can find them for around £65 and they are the best i have seen.

My road and CX bike both fit on easy enough, not sure why the 29er doesn't! Will look at the Thule, thanks

Mountain bikes are longer than road bikes and have fatter, less aerodynamic down tubes.
