Oli Woodman has written a piece on the new 13 Bikes range from Halfords (up on the site currently). Anyone like the look of them? Or bad move from the big H?

frame and stem/bar combo let it down.0

I got as far as "Avid's much loved......" and then came back here. It stretches the bounds of any kind of journalistic integrity to call any Avid brake "much loved".Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
Allround - Cotic Solaris0 -
Good value if it wasn't for the design stupidity.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

That's the first bike review i've ever read where the reviewer slams the bike!
The stem and handlebar combo looks like something from a £69 toysrus special never mind halfords BSO0 -
Their road bike got a reasonable review

I thought Guide brakes were branded SRAM in a move to distance them from a lot of the bad rep of Avids.
And as for the ridiculously shit idea of the rubber badge on the seatpost. I am guessing not much thought has gone into other areas either.0 -
Have avid elixir 9 brakes . Never touched except pad changes . Perhaps too much jumping on the bandwagon.0

I have had Juicy 3 & 7 and Elixir 3, 5 and X0. All were unreliable.
The X0 had an rrp of £400 and i replaced them with Deores which were a fraction of the cost and much better in every way other than being a little heavier. I had to bleed the X0 regularly but haven't touched the deores in two years other than changing pads.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
My (circa 2006) Juicy 5s were reliable, as were my daughters, nice to use they were not.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
