Your new app is crap...

Your old iPad app was good. Your new iPad app is crap.

That's all I have to say about that.

Nice, constructive feedback. I'm sure this is very helpful to developers.

Actually, no, I do have more to say. This POS is practically unusable. Will it load, won't it load? Will it run or will it crash?

Which part of 'iPad app' didn't you understand?

Seriously? The iPad app for downloading the digital edition of the mag. The one that's just been replaced? What other app would it be?

Good question. Immediate have a few.

So it is the new WMTB app.

This topic might move to somewhere else as it is not really a mag issue but a digital media issue.

We will see how they want to deal with this and similar issues.

Ah, O.K. Yes, it's the WMB app. Half the time it won't load. The half the time that to does load it just sits there frozen. And half the time that it does load and doesn't freeze, it quits. It's generally slow and needs a refresh before it shows new issues, whereas the old version showed them automatically. The old app worked perfectly as do the hundreds of other apps I have. This is the first time I've had an app give me grief, everything else just runs like clockwork.

So, two weeks on and not a single response from those responsible. Interesting.

Do you think the app developers are on here? Or even work directly for BR?
    Are you expecting an apology?

I think you've come to the wrong place if you're expecting a response.

The developers? No, why would they be on here? But I would expect someone from WMB to come and explain why they've replaced a perfectly functioning app with one that's bug riddled and a complete pain to use. If they're not going to show up and say at least something, then what's the point of this section of the forum?

At a guess I'd say it's so they can squeeze more adverts into it at some point. Same way as this forum is now overrun with them.

    two different companies.

and they are most likely busy trying to sort out issues.

hence my question as to what app earlier.

I take it that the copy of WMB that you buy on your tablet comes from the same people who sell you a copy of WMB in WH Smiths? They can't blame this on developers. They will have signed off the app.

the copy you buy now does not come from the same people as last year.

so this is not a new app but their app.

Ah, I see what you mean.

Still doesn't excuse the half baked nature of their app. I'm guessing they went to the cheapest bidder for their programming. Damn thing won't even let you use it in landscape! I think that's on page one of The Big Book Of How To Make An App.

Wish it was for me. I think I'm probably going to go back to paper, or give WMB a skip altogether. It's just no fun.

Had a chat with people this evening and we discussed how to deal with subs (paper and digital) issues. As it does not really come under the mag editors remit.

Just to reiterate, guys, unfortunately the WMB guys don't use this forum very much any more. We're in the process of deciding whether they do, or we wrap this sub-forum up. Best to contact the magazine directly with any feedback.

If you have the WMB app then there'll be an option to email the mag directly. If not, contact details will be in there. Failing that, you can email them at: wmb@immediate.co.uk
