BB71-41 removal tool thingy

Hi All,

i have a trek 2.1 with a sm bb71-41a press fit bb.

sadly i let leisure lakes convince me i needed a different bb and now have incorrect tools to remove and replace the bb.

does anyone know how to safely remove (and reinstall) a bb71-41a bb as i have tried the park tool bb90 removal tool and this seems too small. google searches dont seem to offer much for this bb type.

i have used the park tools bbt 90.3 tool to remove and install a bb71 41a, it works really well.

but you say the lbs have fitted a different bb ?
then you ll need a tool to remove that, you need to find out what bb you have in your trek now.

i have the original bb71 in now but when i used leisure lakes online chat they told me i needed a madone bb (my fault for not checking the original bb for name etc) and gave me the product code. ordered and when it arrived i saw it was different. along with the bb i ordered a removal tool and press fitting tool.
i have ordered the correct bb from chain reaction.
maybe i can open the prongs of the remover tool to prize out the old bb and see how it goes.
