Less 'common' Road Cycling attire

I've read a contributed to a couple of topics that skirted round the edge of the increasing number of Road Cycling attire names.

I got back into cycling about 5yrs ago. Like a lot of others I've bought dbh, PBK, Pearl Izumi, Gore, Castelli, Capo and Assos but not yet Rapha. However, I did recently buy a couple of beautifully made tops from Velobici and almost bought a jacket from Cafe du Cycliste.

Yes I have doffed my tin hat and am ready for the abuse that it's not about the clothes but I also welcome the names of other "high end" kit like PEdALED, BlackSheep, LaPASSIONE :)

Hey...if you can afford it...Some of the high end stuff does look great, and after all this is mostly a hobby, or even passion, for most of us on here, so why not!.

Personally I can't afford much of the high end stuff, but I do treat myself once in a while, especially when there's a sale on. I did actually visit the offices of Cafe Du Cyliste in Nice in the summer of 2013 (I actually expected to be able to get a brew and pastry, but unfortunatley the Cafe bit of the name was not that literal!). Nice bloke though, they guy who I spoke to, spoke English like a native of GB (which was good as my French is pony), and I was able to buy directly from the office at a discount. Their range has expanded greatly since then, and I'll be there this summer as well so might pop by again, see if he remembers me!

Don't get me wrong, I too only buy in the sales. It one of the reasons behind my question, to see if someone posts an outlet that can be added to the list I occasionally browse hoping they will be a sale :)

I have one of their asymmetric jerseys and it's absolutely first class.

    Torm:

I have two Torm jerseys, and as above, excellent product; I possibly prefer the Torm jerseys only because they are a bit on the small side, but fit me absolutely perfectly.

I also have Rapha and Shutt VR stuff and I'm happy with their products.

If you sign up for the emails it's 10% off, so prices comparable to Rapha? the quality certainly is.

This stuff looks amazing and you have the option of custom sizing. Haven't actually got round to buying any to try yet though... Sometime this year hopefully.

Look great but I'd have to sell a bike to buy a jersey, not sure that would be wise!

  • No probably not, unless you think you can get away with wearing one for day to day use?

Definitely very expensive, even compared with Assos and Rapha, but just out of interest I might have to try some bibs from them... :|

just wait til you see the 753 range... ;-)
  • Bespoke clothing is the only exclusive kit out there.
Just buy a sewing machine and roll or two of fabric and get stitching.
You can even make up your own branding for that air of superiority.

I've got a 3 of these jerseys, highly recommended by me and Road CC.

  • Have a look at always riding.co.uk. Great selection of clothing from less well known manufacturers

Most continental sportives give you a jersey for completing it, so do one that not many Brits do and you'll get an 'uncommon' jersey plus the sense of achievement of doing a decent ride into the bargain.

Yeah, fair enough but it ain't the best way of increasing visibility is it? Imagine if some hunting attire company rolled out brightly colured stalking wear.
