Morning

As the title suggests I want to increase the size of my cassette to 12-30 and can only do this if I go for an Ultegra cassette.

I'm currently running a full Dura Ace 7900 setup and want to make sure it will run ok without having to change the RD.

Would I need to change the chain too? I was going to do this anyways but thought I'd ask the question.

Thanks in advance.

You can get a Tiagra 12-30 for not much money. £12.50 from CRC

I have used them for the past 3 years with Dura Ace, Ultegra and 105 set ups - all short cage RD's. No problems whatsoever. Just make sure your chain is long enough. BTW I would always change the chain if I'm running a new cassette.
  • that's spot on advice... thank you...

If it matters to you, the Tiagra cassette is quite a chunk heavier than the Ultegra item. It's easier to clean though. :)

Also, I used a 6700 12-30t cassette with my old 6700 short cage RD with no issues at all. It replaced a 11-28t item and I didn't need to change the chain length.
