Was having a chat this lunch time with a few roadies of similar age (early 40's) and as ever the subject of kit/equipment cropped up and we reminisced about stuff from back in the day, this is the list we came up with.
Giro Ventoux helmet (the first helmet that actually looked the part).
Avocet computer with wired sensor.
Decente and Alexa clothing.
Carnac Diagonal shoes (awesome).
Turbomatic 2 saddle.
Time Equipe magnesium pedals.
PSP 22 (now SIS energy drink)
Michelin Supercomp HD clincher tyres.
Vista light 10w Halogen bike light with mahoosive battery pack.
Anymore classic stuff anyone?

Oakley Pilots !
Those crocheted mitts with ovals in the back.
Shorts with real chamois in.
Tights made of wool.
I had the original look pedals and they're still on one of my bikes. Must be almost 30 years old ?0 -
Alexa kit was excellent stuff. I still have a flouro thermal top, it`s too warm to wear anything under it
Well set up SIS.
Specialised BG saddles.
Briko sprinters (still using em now)Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently0 -

+1 for the Alexa flouro top got the same, and some Alexa thermal bib tights..very toasty combo. Better than the woollen tights I had before that.
I used to race on Specialized Turbo S and Turbo R tyres for a time in the late 80's0 -
Silca & Zefal HPX frame pumps.0

'Grab-on' foam grips (instead of bar tape) and Shimano Biopace chainrings used to feature heavily in the FreeWheel catalogue (remember that?). Weinmann brakes and Simplex or Huret mechs seemed to be the budget components of choice before Shimano became ubiquitous.0

A mixed bag showing my roots;
Oakley pilots (white)
Girvin flexstem
First Camalbaks
Specialized 1.5 hardpack
Lace up shoes and toe straps
Early fully record-able polar hrms...i had a polar accurex in the early 90s.0 -
Suntour - had a lovely Superbe Pro rear mech once.
Modolo - brakes and bars/stems as well, I think.
E-stay mountain bikes (Fisher and Alpinestars)
+1 for woolly tights. In fact my first shorts were that woolly stuff, but not like the tights that looked like your Mam had knitted them.
Scott DH handlebars.
Hutchinson 20c slicks.0 -
As a young lad I was so excited when I got my Avocet, in blue!
Same for getting my Oakley Razorblades(?) and I loved the first Time pedals and the white and red Time shoes I had a la Delgado in the late 80's.
Happy days!0 -
I had a pair of wooly tights held up with braces bought from a gentlemans' taylors.
Lace up shoes that looked like they belonged to Fausto Coppi.
Everready bike lights

Proflex stem (included bits of rubber off a skateboard for suspension)
Campag Delta brakes, looked futuristic if in the future breaks didn't work properly.0
