My girlfriend bought a vitus about 12 months ago and it's served her well, but as her riding has progressed we realised that the ill fitting frame was holding her back

So after a fair bit of brain storming we thought it would be best to use what we could of her current bike and build a nice new beast to blast around the trails. There were a few parts that had come close to the end of their usable life so these have been upgraded.

She took on a few of my suggestions and ultimately really like the look of a Cotic Bfe, fortunatley a riding buddy of mine has a Cotic Soul (same geo but a more fancy steel), so she had a ride on this and really liked it.

A week later and the Vitus is looking a bit bare:

And the Bfe is ready to be clad with shiney bits:

The next morning and a few hours of messing around in the garage and the bike is done.

The wheels are from superstar, upgraded as the rear hub was very tired and had been serviced 4 times already.
Somehow, she had managed to snap 3 teeth off a jockey wheel, I fitted an old shimano one that was sitting in my toolbox but now we have a shiney new sram X7 rear mech, shifter was replaced about 4 months ago.
Not too keen on the Avid Elixir 1 brakes and even less keen on having to bleed them at some point we took the oppotunity to wack on some shiney new Shimano Deore calipers and levers.
Also bought new Superstar Nanotech pedals

Whilst the credit card was taking a beating a Rockshox Reverb dropper post was added to the shopping cart and quickly fitted too.

    And Boom! Done and done!

Next on the list is floating disc rotors (colour coded of course) and new forks, the current ones are fine for now but in 12 months or so Rockshox Pikes will be most likely be fitted.

We went for a little ride and fully expected a few little teething problems but it rides real nice, my girlfriend is super chuffed with her new ride and I'm a little jealous, although that's a fair few brownie points gained so it's all good.

Looks nice, but I wouldn't bother with floating rotors, not least because they often cause issues when used with Shimano callipers, but also as they are pointless (apart from looking 'nice').
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

...then they aren't pointless? He even notes that they will be colour coded - a clue that aesthetics is a factor.

She was at first choosing parts based purely on colour till I calmed her down. I was unaware of problems with them, do they foul the caliper?

First pic was taken on Worcestor Beacon on the Malvern Hills

I have a floating rotor from Uberbike which works perfectly with my XT calipers if it helps.
