Android phone. Pop up telling me my phone has a virus.

Grey square occupies middle of screen. Prompts me to download software. I haven't, of course.

Chrome, android.

  • Have you got a screen grab, could be poor advert - give me as much detail as you can.
  • No, sorry. Shut it down immediately.

Basically just a grey box with text on it. First one just said something along the lines of your phone has a virus. Second pop up then have a box to tick, to download software. I just shut chrome down immediately to get rid of it. Hasn't done it since.

    Hi,

This could well be courtesy of an app you have installed - it's worth getting an anti-virus app on your phone if you haven't already. The Avast! app is one of the best free ones currently.

If it's one of our adverts going rogue we'll hopefully be able to pick it up, but this does tend to be an issue with apps being compromised or one with malicious intent.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I have had this too, only on Bikeradar. Virus scan says clean. Browser is Google Chrome on an Android tablet (Nexus)

Thanks for that, this is something we'll keep a close eye on. If you get this again, would you mind letting us know which other ads are appearing on the page?

If you're able to take a screenshot of the other adverts appearing at the same time as this popup that'd be really helpful.

    Thanks,

    Chris
