Or at least some to consider. After doing a few time trials over the last couple of years, I'm having a more serious go this year. Got the TT bike, been riding a number of turbo sessions every week on it and seem to have found a position I can live with for now, will be getting the skinsuit, shaving the legs (gulp) etc. So I probably should consider a new helmet as well (currently use a Gyro Atmos for general riding and find it very comfortable). Any not ridiculously expensive models to be taking a look at, that will be better then my Gyro? Should I be thinking of one with a visor? Long or short tail?

Probably better asking this question over on timetriallingforum.co.uk - also a good place to pick up a 2nd hand one for not much money, got myself a Bell Javelin off there a while back.0

I reckon a member on here would sell you a barely used Flouro green Rudy Project Wingspan for a VERY good price.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

As above, go second hand and grab a bargain.
I managed to get a Kask Bambino off a club mate fairly cheaply which does the job pretty well. Unfortunately it doesn't have much pitch adjustment so it can look like a 'shark fin' if its not tilted right back so if you can find a shorter tailed helmet then I'd probably go along that route- but really any old TT helmet will do.
EDIT: Sorry, I meant Kask Barloworld- whole lot of difference between the Bambino!!0 -
Good idea about the tt forum, have done so. Nap would that forum member by any chance want to mention why the Wingspan is for sale? I might be interested, the green might go a little too well with my club kit (which also happens to be a sort of fluro green), I'm going to feel enough of a clown in this get up as it is, not sure I want to go for the FPKW look though!
Is there such a thing as a good helmet for a beginner, one that may be more forgiving of head movements etc?0 -
He got a bambino for a good price. Yet to see if it's any better tbh.
The wingspan is designed to still be aero when head isn't in the optimum place. Have a Google. It's also pretty cool. I'm, errrr, I mean *he* is a bit worried about getting too hot in the bambino.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Same with all helmets - go for whichever fits, although complicated slightly in that if you go with one with a longer tail you should look for it to flow into your back as well. I think I ordered 4 from Wiggle and sent three back.
Personally, I went for a Bambino, partly because it fitted really well, partly because I still have a tendency to look down a little too much so the other alternatives acted a bit like a sail and partly because someone else was paying.
It does get pretty warm though and I don't recall ever racing when it was really hot so I can imagine an early afternoon TT in the height of Summer (should we get one) would be a little sweaty to say the least.0 -

Or a Kask K-31 Crono which is BNWT/boxed AND has a transparent visor “Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
Hi Folks,
thanks for the comments. Lots to think about. A few people (on here and on the tt forum) have now mentioned the Bambino as being comfy and not so position critical (though perhaps not ultimately as fast) so I may wait and see if I can pick up one of those at a good price. Unless anyone has any other recommendations for something similar? NAP how are you getting on with yours? Do you like it?
Thanks again

The new POC and Catlike helmets are pretty similar to the Bambino, visually at least. I think they're both due out this Spring so not sure if you'll get any decent deals for a while. I nearly bought the Catlike Chrono WT - very nice bit of kit but the Kask just felt more comfortable.0
