Must be getting old but want to switch the Genesis to a compact chainset, the bike is running Apex 10spd at the moment but I do not want 50/34, I would prefer 52/36 as per my Roubaix

My question is would a Sram Rival 22 11spd chainset fit and work all ok with the rest of the Apex set up please.

If all you want is 52/36 why not just change the rings on the Apex crankset?
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I have found a Rival 22 chain set at a really good price (less than an Apex compact) so if it would work it is the cheapest option, as buying the Apex then buying replacement rings is going to get expensive.

At the moment I am running a Rival 53/39 so no option to go smaller as it is 130bcd.

Ahh, you didn't mention you were running Rival. I don't see why a Rival 22 crank set wouldn't work but I'd check the spacing with a 10 speed chain first. The other option is to use an 11 speed chain if that will work with your 10 speed cassette.

Thanks for the info, the bike is running a full 10spd Apex set up but with a Rival 10spd chainset (wanted matching Apex) but it was a bargain at the time.

I guess I will have to borrow the Rival 22 from the Roubaix and try it.
