Chain Suck on SRAM red

Chain sticks to the big chain ring when changing to small ring with some load on chain.
Replaced both chain rings, chain and rear derailleur.
Oiled front derailleur and cable.
Next I'm planning to replace gear cable in case the cable is sticking and not allowing the front derailleur to move quickly enough.
This is a big deal when riding with the Club as I momentarily stop when it jams causing expletives from the rider behind me.

Thats winter weather for you, takes its toll.
I'd have thought about new cableset first of all , combined with the thorough disassemble and clean.
Replacing new chain rings a bit expensive to do as an initial thought... they do have quite a long working life, normally.
Similarly, new Red mech..also costly for basically routine maintenance.0 -
MTB chain suck is always rings or chain tension (clutch rear derailleur invented by Shimano to fix the problem).
So that's how i approached the problem.
On Road SRAM Front mech on early Red was awful, light but awful - front shifting was hopeless
LBS recommended using the time trial front rings to get shifting but longevity was still poor.
2013 chain rings and YAW front derailleur are better - now I've got both, jury is out on the longevity.
Any how new gear cables next...0 -
Make sure the mech is the right spacing above the big chainring, SRAM seems to be particularly sensitive to this.0

If you want to read about the causes and cures for chain suck have a read http://www.fagan.co.za/Bikes/Csuck/"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
