Why? He's contracted to ride for Sky, he will ride for Sky to the best of his abilities. The management team that are, or will be, in place for Team Wiggins will manage that team and won't trouble him too much!
    Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
    Allround - Cotic Solaris
  • So what will his priorities be then?. Sky, or his own team?

Eh? That's obvious. As a rider his priorities are with Sky.

  • Am I mistaken in thinking he will ride in this new team, or is it strictly his by name only??

He's riding for Sky until April. Then he'll switch to his new team.

Well his stated aim when this was first announced was to stay with Sky to target Paris-Roubaix which is his goal on the road. He then switches to his own team (helping them to gain entry into races that a UK Conti team otherwise wouldn't be invited to ride) where he'll concentrate on his hour attempt and training to get selected for the Rio track team.

Presumably he will have to ride these events, if it means a level above that which UK Conti teams normally get invites to. Even by Conti standards, this is not a strong road team, so without him there is no benefit to organisers, especially if it means dumping a team from their own country.

I think the main reason for the team is do they can dictate what the core of the rio track team do, although they do have some riders who as far as I am aware don't do much track Dan Patten for one. Be interesting to see what road races they actually do, looking at their squad and you would probably say they are the weaker of the UK conti teams until Wiggins steps into the team at least, Wiggins in a tour series round?

and its a similar approach to how the Womens track team pursuiters have been approaching Rio, they do most of the top category UK road race events, that do have TTs, rounds of the Tour Series, Womens Tour/Tour of Britain, Ride London, with options for invites into European races, then switch back to track in the winter with the revolution series, the numbers must stack up and its more motivational than just going round in circles indoors or staring at a gym wall for the next 18months.

Wiggins at the London Nocturne perhaps...probably not riding but the team Im sure will be invited.
