Garmin 810 Strangeness

This isn't related to the connection problems in the other thread.
I have a ride/communt I did on Monday. It shows up on the 810, with all data - cadence, HR etc, but it doesn't show in the garmin folder on my laptop (2nd ride of the day - previous and subsequent rides uploaded). As such, it won't upload. All other rides this week are visible on both the 810 and the laptop.
I haven't changed any save settings or updated to the latest firmware. It is, as it was before Xmas when I used it last
Any ideas how to get the data to upload, or just write it off. 7 miles isn't a big deal, I'm more concerned about why it happened, and how to fix/prevent
