Hi,

Got a Garmin 510 from Santa and i love it. However, just wondering if this is normal. When i want to swipe between screens when riding you have to put a small amount of pressure on the screen (more than an iPhone) otherwise the arrows and the weather forecast thing pops up.

Is this how its meant to be? Wouldn't bother me usually but i was using an 810 throughout the summer.

Cheers

  • It's because it's using a resistive touch screen, i.e. one which reacts to actual pressure on the screen. Whereas the iPhone uses a capacitive screen which uses the electrical resistance in your fingers, meaning with the iPhone you only have to touch the surface but with the Garmin you need to push it.

It's this way because if they used a capacitive screen you wouldn't be able to operate it using gloves.

yep thats quite normal,i have the 810 and dont have any issues.
previous to had i had the 510 and was the same as the 810...
  • Genius! I also received a Garmin 510 (well, vouchers that I exchanged for one) and have just used it for the first time tonight. I didn't even realise you could swipe between screens, that's much better :-)
