Threadless Headset Cartridge-Bearing chamfer angles
Do they really matter?
The lower 1.5" bearing that is in my Trek Madone has shoulder chamfers of 36 & 36 degrees. I can't seem to find anything that matches it locally or online.
As this sits directly between the frame and the crown (no crown race.......should there be one???) I am reluctant to stick any old bearing in there for fear of cracking the frame/fork.
I have found a 36/45deg Cane Creek bearing that comes with a crown race, would that be an option?

This will fit http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/402/160_6751/fsa-th-072-mr132-15-acb-36-x-36-headset-bearing.html. Maybe you could find it cheaper elsewhere.0

Look for bearings according TH standard.
A fork should have either an intergrated race or loose one.0 -
thanks chaps. It's a fully intergrated headset, so I guess the fork race is integrated too. (After some googling, i'm not the only one to ask the question... my mind is at rest on that now. phew!)
I will check the TH number and double check the angles again.

Post up a picture of the fork crown and we will beable to advice about the crown race.
If it is part of the fork then things must match. Often though people just don't notice that it s seperate."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
