Cycling with no shoes!

Just been watching the Ironman in Australia. Many of the cyclists appear to be barefoot, or just have some sort of sole.

Any idea how this works?

    Perhaps it was just after transition and their feet are on top of their shoes.

    These Aussies are tough - they just nail their cleats to the soles of their feet...

    Shoes are only there to keep your feet warm.

    For an ironman - I've never seen anyone race barefoot. You must have caught them just coming into transition when they remove their feet from the shoes and pedal the last 100 meters or so in. They do the same in reverse heading out. Which is brilliant when amateurs have a go and fall off....

    Or you see someone trying to snap the elastic band that didn't snap when they started pedaling :lol::lol:
