New bike arriving soon - I've got a handful of spare 26" inner tubes available, but no 27.5/650b tubes.

I'm imagining that 26" tubes will work just as well in the 650b wheel, am I right? Any direct experience?

No, but they are rubber, and not that different so I'm certain it'll be fine.

A friend used 29er tubes in a 36er (yes really, go Google it) as the 36" tubes were over 500g each, no problem at all. Watch how a tube grows if you inflate it out a tyre....

Cheers, I'll stick with 26 then. Now just need to wait patiently for the German delivery...

36er? Dang, do I need to sell my now defunct 27.5?
All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Yes of course, 36er is the next big thing until they discover this rare and little heard of old small wheel size that is great for acceleration and it will be called a 26er.

    Yes they work fine.
Although MBUK/MBR etc tell us that no one rides 26" anymore when the only person I know with a 650b bike got a puncture I leant him a 26" tube. When we fitted it you wouldn't have known it was for a smaller size wheel, it wasn't tight on the rim.
Even our local shop doesn't stock 650b tubes, they just sell 26" because they work and it's less sizes to stock.

Just don't make the mistake that I made the other day and shove a road tyre inner tube onto your MTB

I multi-tasking, and didn't check the inner tube that OH had got out for me when changing a knackered tyre was the right one...

All seemed fine, checked pressures before heading out for a ride- only at around 38psi, got bike out of garage, went to shut garage door, and inner tube went off with a bloody loud bang... Frightened the carp out of 2 passing dog walkers, and raise my pulse a tad...
    Wheeze..... Gasp..... Ruddy hills.......

I only use 26 tubes in my 650b, had no choice as had one of the first in the UK and the tubes were impossible to find.

    No problems at all..

In a pinch I have used 26 tubes in my 29er wheels with no problems. You will be fine...
