Hi all, does anyone know a cycle friendly route from Alderley Edge to Warrington? I start a new job in Warrington tomorrow and don't really know the area. A GPX or similar would be even better. Many thanks in advance, Freebs.

Good luck on some of the most crowded roads in the country - North Cheshire.
Anyways.. strike out from Alderley.. direction Chelford, use a couple of back lanes to jump over to the Chelford Road , direction Knutsford. Ok that gets congested as hell. Then just use the A50 all into Warrington. Now the A50 is a big wide A road and actually fairly cycle friendly.. I use it a lot for training rides. Pinch points are fairly infrequent. Oh, going over the M6 at Lymm... diesel hell.. so careful, careful on the roundabout section.

As already said the A50 is a fairly wide road and quite easy to ride on, the busy thinner road is the road from Alderley Edge through to Mobberley and Knutsford. But there are plenty of side roads you can zig zag down which are quite pleasant to avoid this section. Instead of going over the M6, you can turn left and drop down back lanes into Stockton Heath but this would head you into the centre of Warrington which may not be where you want to go. Where in Warrington are you heading?

Going to Centre Park. I went through Stockton Heath this morning. Went Mobberley, Ashley, Hale, Bowden, Dunham Massey then Lymm and on to A56. Didn't think it was too bad. Any other suggestions?

Yes, that's more or less the way I would go, or should I say I go in reverse when going out to the Peak. There are loads of little variations and it is quite a pleasant ride whichever route you choose. Some nice roads here, I've done the route on Strava, so I hope you can see it (it's not private and neither is my profile so should be OK) https://www.strava.com/routes/1308985
