Hello

I'm looking at buying a Wilier GTR as my first new bike (had a second hand Wilier for 3 years now). I would like to invest in the groupset with Campy chorus but I can only find it for sale with Veloce.

How much will I get burnt if I were to go down the frame set custom build route? I would consider second hand eBay record groupset but feels like I might be complicating things.

Any suggestions...

Are you intending to build it yourself, or asking an LBS to do it for you?
  • It's a good way to build up a bike so go for it. Any bike shop worth it's salt should be happy to put it together for you. Nice frame and group choice btw :-)

I think it's more satisfying building a bike yourself, you can pick all the components and get everything just right, no compromises, I did the same with a de rosa superking, as above if you get stuck your lbs will be more than happy to sort it out.

You could buy it strip it and then aged your groupset - or the wilier dealer might be willing to build it up for you. Worth asking ?

Do as I did. I bought the bike with Veloce, stripped the frame of everything and sold it all off. Then rebuilt the bike with the groupset and finishing gear I wanted.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

As above; I bought a Supersix 105 knowing full well I was going to strip it and replace the groupset. The economics worked and its straight forward stuff.
