Trying to fit new Look Keo Classic pedals and understand need to use allen key through the back of the cranks rather than spanner but the recommended 8mm hex allen is far too small to grip anything in the spindle. the largest size i have in 11mm and even this is nowhere near getting any grip.

I'm a bit of a mechanic hard but have trawled the inter web tutorials and forums to see if there is something obvious i'm missing but no joy.

help!

I have 3 pairs of Keo Classics and they all use an 8mm allen key.

Most take an 8mm hex fitting. Can only assume that what you think is an 8mm allen key - isn't.

HEX allen key is what you require... anyways, get off to Halfords, their BikeHut set with ball ends is rather good value... you might need a 6mm as actually my Garmin Keo s use that size.

The end of the hole is rather big. The 8mm bit is recessed. If you try the allen key you'll find it works. Have more faith in the instructions!
    Faster than a tent.......
  • Got it. a bit on a duhhhh moment as i woke up realising that the allen key i thought was 8mm was not 8mm.

Need to get my eyes tested and lay off the sherry.

in my defence the machining is rather recessed……that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it….
