Cannondale or Cube?

So I've been straining my brain a considerable amount lately at what bike to buy, and after weeks of trying to decide what road bike I wanted, I've caved in to the idea of getting a cyclocross bike (for a few different reasons)

My budget was initially a measly £500 but realising that amount of money isn't going to get me much, I've broadened my horizons a bit.

So I'm stuck for choice between the Cannondale CAADX Tiagra Disc 2015 Cyclocross Bike and the Cube Cross Race 2015 - Cyclocross Bike.

Both are £899 (from different places) so I'm not too fussed there. The Cube has Shimano 105 parts and the CAADX Tiagra, well, has Tiagra parts. So I'm guessing that the Cube is the better bike here? Or is there something I'm missing?

I'm really new to road/cyclocross bikes, so any advice here would be appreciated.

If you've got a budget of circa £900 then there are other options you should be considering, these two spring immediatly to mind...

Both well specced (above the two you have mentioned) and well rated on here... For my money, I'd get the Rose.

The Rose sounds like a good choice, although when I consider the extra costs (shipping etc) it turns out to be more around £1000 than £900. I'm definitely considering it now though.
  • You should get the Rose. I'm not biased. Much.

  • Out of curiosity, what is the benefit in getting the Rose instead of the Cube?

They both have 105 Shimano parts, but I can't really tell the difference between the other parts, and the Cube is definitely the cheaper choice.
  • I like the Cube Cross, you could also consider the Merida Cyclocross4, which has 105 components. (I miss mine)

The cube he linked to (link now not working) was the cantilever brake version. Unless a die hard racer I can't see why anyone would not go for discs these days. The same bike is available for £999 with discs. The choice between that and the Rose would be on aesthetics and whether you wanted the local dealer backup.

I would still choose the Rose, its white, I like white stuff.

I've seen used Cannondale Caadx with 105 for £500 - check road.cc. A lot of stuff is going now that the season is over or almost over. Heck ebay just sold a hi mod Super X (top flight frame) with 105 for £900 so buying tiagra on an alu frame for £500 seems like a compromise.

Also, I like the geometry of the Sensa bikes at Merlin Cycles. They have some good deals too
    When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.

I just bought a Rose Pro DX 2000 last Saturday from the German firm Rose and it is £970 delivered to my address in the UK.

I'm now 99% sure I'm going for the Rose, and I'm probably going to buy it within the next few days.

How long did delivery take for you? How does the bike look/feel overall? I'm super interested to know before I go through with buying it (970 quid is a lot for me).

Cheers for the help, everyone. :D
