Hello

I'm about to order a bike with 52mm Mavic Cosmic SLE and I'd like to know if this 60mm valves http://www.bike-discount.de/de/kaufen/m ... v60-255786 are suitable for them without using valve expander. I don't know if there will be enough available space for the pump to work properly (60mm-52mm). Any thoughts on that?

The thing is Mavic apparently does not do 80mm valve tubes. They do a valve adapter though. I would not like to lose the all-black asthetics, as the Mavic valves also sport a all-black graphic.

Thanks

  • No they won't work...

Get some black valve extenders to fit on some random inner tubes (get inner tubes with a screw top valve

May I add that worrying about the colour of the valve stem is a bit... how can I put it?

80mm version.. thanks for making me check though as W have Vittoria long valve extenders on sale and I have to put up with them being red on a bike where I have banned the colour red.

Specialised also do 80mm tubes and they will be cheaper, I have loads. The specialised 80mm tubes are a standard alloy colour and threaded, the Continental race light 80mm have removable valves and the unthreaded valve stems are a brass colour. The continental ones are likely to rattle, but Rapid Racer Products have just brought out "Valveguard" which is a cheap and better solution than pvc tape.

I should have added that if you are determined to go with shorter valves and valve extenders, the newer Mavic valve extenders are black ( I have 2) and do work well. Zip valve extenders are also black and I actually find the Topeak black ones very effective. All 3 of these do not require you to relocate your valve to the end of the extender.

Planet X have a great deal on 80mm tubes at the moment. http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TUPX700R/pl ... inner-tube
I don,t use valve extenders as i,ve found them to be a problem sometimes.
