Which Planet X bike should I purchase?

Hello,

Last night I purchased this bike on my mobile, however I failed to spot the fact it had the Planet A57 wheels on it.

http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FBPXSLPRIV ... -road-bike

I am tempted to swap to this bike (if they allow) for this model

http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FBPXSLP105 ... -road-bike

This has the 10 speed 105 instead, but has the FSA 30 wheels.

I am currently 15 stone riding a Carrera Virtuoso, and often have problems with the back wheel bending. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

The A57 is a strong wheelset - if you say you have problems with your current wheels 'bending', then go for the A57s.
  • Ah OK it's just that I seen the FSA 30 wheelset is £200, where as the A57 is on the site for £105.

Was expecting the FSA 30 to be a better wheel.

  • Cool so it looks like I made the best purchase in the first place :)
  • Yes you did!
  • So Sram Rival 22 speed bike with cheaper wheels, would preferred over the 105 20 speed with the more expensive wheels.

Indeed. The more expensive wheels aren't necessarily better. They still fall into the sub £200 category where most of the time you will not benefit with them over stock wheels.

For me sram would be the choice over shimano any day. I find the ergonomics of the levers perfect.

    I ordered the same bike.
The bike was supposed to come with the a57 wheels but arrived with the fsa 30 wheels instead.

I'd go for SRAM too - planet x wheels are fine - don't just go by RRP.

Bonus, hoping they do the same with mine then :) Out of interest when did you order? How long did it take to come?

Ordered mine on the 28th but it is still saying 'to be picked' :(
  • Having used SRAM Rival and Shimano 105, of the two, I'd go with SRAM every time given the choice. Much more precise feel when shifting. Also the "RRP" on those FSA wheels hasn't been £199 on the Planet X site very long, it was much less previously.
