Customising bikes

I am looking for a winter bike and found ribble allow you to pick a frame and then choose the groupset, wheels, saddle etc.
Do any other bike shops do similar? I like the ribble but may look for a disc brake version if someone else does a custom build.

Not sure what you mean - you can order a frame then all the components separately from anywhere then just give the lot to your LBS to build up if you don't want to.
Alternatively, Planet X also allow a number of choices when buying one of their bikes. Appalling customer service is included free of charge though.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

I've been happy with PX. I've three of their bikes now.
Pretty much any shop will customise a bike to your needs. If you want discs though you need to start off with a frame that will take them.
I'd look at cross bikes too. Plenty of clearance for guards and mud.0 -
Get some decals with your initialsI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I meant like Dolan: http://www.dolan-bikes.com/dolan-cyclo- ... -bike.html
or Ribble: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/pu/road-t ... ebuilder/1
When I have bought a bike and said I needed a different stem or tyres etc I have usually been told I have to buy those on top and have not been offered a refund for not taking the stock parts (that is both chain stores and LBSs)0 -

Planet X allow you to customise - select one of their bikes and hit the customise button under the buy it button for options.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Thanks. As it's a winter/commuter I'm less keen on carbon
I have a carbon roubaix at the moment and the reason for getting another bike is that I want one that can take a rack and guards easily; and also maybe wider tyres in case I do trails (i.e. tow paths type) with the kids at some point. So looking at CX bikes (will put 25mm slicks for commuting and have some other tyres I can change if I do a trail with kids)0 -
Rose bikes in Germany will allow "almost" anything you want on there frames. They are to say the least, a substantial on-line shop as it is, allowing you to choose from their intire stock for your, dream bike. And in case you don't know yet their prices are amazingly competetive.
No I don't work for them, and I'm not touting the "made in germany mith". I'm Canadian, live in Munich and am an extremely satisfied customer of Rose.0 -
Thanks martino53
Will have a look0 -
