Just had a go with the Cycleops Virtual Trainer software.

Paired my Xperia Z2 with my Speed/cadence sensor and he software "knows" the powercurve on the Fluid2 trainer that I use.
BUT, it cost $5.99 a month to use it after the free trial.
Does any one know of a free Android app that I can use to get the power from the Fluid2 via Ant+ Speed/cadence and HRM?
I simply haven't money to spare for $5.99 a month and I don't I'd use it enough to justify the cost any way!
Cheers

If you have a real computer WattzAp and Golden Cheetah are options.

I use my Cyclops fluid 2 on Trainer Road, but have never been happy with the Virtual Power figure on either the Beta power curve or the other one available.

I wrongly believed you needed a Cyclops power tap to run the Cyclops virtual training, I didn't realise there was a virtual power option , I take it being a Cyclops trainer and Cyclops program that their power map is probably a bit closer on virtual power than those I ve experienced on Trainer road.

I know Nap D has switched between both, but to be honest I thought he used a power tap and actual power, has anyone compared both with the Cyclops Fluid 2 and which one would you put the most trust in?

If theres a free trial period on the Cyclops training then I ll give it a go as I m currently using Trainer Road when I cant get out.

There's a free trial period with the virtual training but yeah I use a powertap. However, I have a Cycleops jet fluid pro trainer, I'll try and have a do with virtual power to see how it compares if I get chance.

There is a fair amount of variation in the setup on these things. Using TrainerRoad I did the FTP test and blasted out 314W. A week later after the bike had been out the turbo and then repositions and I was flat out trying to hold 270W! An extra turn of the yellow handle was enough to produce a significant increase in load. Needless to say I had to make a manual adjustment to my FTP which is now down at an all together more sensible 250W. I am also on a Fluid 2

It does state (on one of the websites I've looked at) that the setup needs to identical each time otherwise the power figures will vary. There is a comparison somewhere to and the virtual is on a par with the real power...
    EDIT:
    all about virutal power:

Yer I m aware of getting continuity of set up, Always make sure resistance and tyre pressure is the same and that I ve spinned up for at least 5 minutes to make sure the viscosity of the fluid in the trainer is okay.

Nap D if you could do a comparison between the Power Tap and the Fluid 2 that would be a winner, Is there not a function on TR were you can send them your power map and they can recalibrate the curves between actual and virtual power.

I m going to give the Cyclops free trial a go , always nice to have a bit of variety.
  • Kurt Kinetic InRide power module has a run-down exercise used prior to any workout so it calculates how much resistance the roller is exerting on the tyre, and adjusts the algorithm to-suit. Quite a nifty feature, and apparently produces consistent power figures as a result, and means you don't have to be so exact with the roller pressure.

is very simple but it works very well, its good enough to warrant the purchase of the "full" version.
