Thoughts on first bike

Hello,
I'm looking for your advice on my first Hybrid bike. I like the designs of the Specialized brand and wondered what you thought of the Crossroads Sport 2014. I have a small budget of £300 and not keen on a girly girls bike or a step through. Seen the Specialized Ariel also which isnt bad but think the Crossroads is more up my street

If so, I'm afraid that like most specialised for less than £1000 it is pretty poor value for money despite looking pretty.
