Hardtail Advice - Bird Zero or Cotic Soul

I am looking to buy a hardtail to supplement my FS bike during winter.

I have taken a Bird Zero out and liked it but I am interested in buying the Soul frame and building it up myself.

Im looking for some impartial advice, i know there are a few people on here that is partial to the Zero but I like the idea of a light steel hardtail.
