Basically DH here who due to injury and advise from the phsyio/docs post surgery will be off the DH route for 12-18 months now.

So need to find a new pass time, don't like going up hills and if I do XC I have zero self controll and the first bit off singletrack that goes down and jumps I'm gona go off it so......

Fitness and sight seeing for me now, narrowed it down to two bike I like the look of, anyone had a last on them or any reviews, and ofcourse any alterneative suggestion welcome :-)

Cheers

Will

  • Both pretty basic Hybrids. As soon as you post the word hybrid, someone will come along and say why not get CycloCross and they can be a valid option (may be not depending on your injury and if drop bars are an option?)

Some worth considering in your budget...

I don't know if they are any good, but interesting choice/design.

Flat bars only due to injury and also my dislike and disgust at drop bars.

Gona upgrade gears/breaks on whatever I get from my current rig but open to ideas.

They look ok, cheaper anyway the felt looks nicer IMO but see what else gets suggested.

Marin for me out of those two.

Or look for a used Cannondale Bad Boy.

Bad Boy looks decent, the DH side of things will slowly become less and less so not really after a run into the ground bike want something thats gona last me and can be upgraded as well, as over time will work back up to DH but 50/50 split at best of times once I'm fully fucntioning again

Yeah, the Bad Boy is an awesome bike. Was between that and the Cube in my sig for me, but went for the Cube as I got a good deal on a barely used one.

Rode my bouncy bike today for the fist time in ages and it felt so much easier, so the road miles do help even if not as fun.

    Why not this http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pin ... e-ec071283

Having looked at it it would make a pretty good rigid MTB for the money.
Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"
  • What about the Boardman Hybrid Comp.

If you don't mind spending another £250 you could go with the Team version and get carbon forks and hydraulic discs.

@CitizenLee cube does look nice as well added to the shortlist

@robertpb/Jedi Master Spes wise I don't need to pay the extra 150-200 for better breaks/shifters I got some avid juicy carbons and a sram x7 shifter set in the spares and repairs box. Gona head into town in the morning see if any of the local independants have any offers on and then gona bight the bullet saturday and order.

As for carbon forks i like them but I don't trust them haha

so far got the cannondale/cube/felt/bordman in the running

Voodoo Marasa, great do it all bike, stick on some 32mm slicks and it's a fast road hybrid, stick on some 2.1" MTB tyres and you have a rigid 29er, something maybe to consider as you get better?
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

How about a rigid xc 29er? Then you can do more off road but won't be able to start going banzai. Could even go single speed as well.
