hi all,
any recommendations for a rear deep section (80 or 100mm) or disc wheel for 10 & 11 speed?

this would be ideal but its only 10 speed: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WRPX2010CA ... rear-wheel

I wonder are Planet X releasing a new range of wheels to cater for 11 speed shimano hubs as they don't have a great selection?

another idea would be this 10/11 speed Zerocx 88mm @ 600 euro: http://zerocx.com/en/carbon-road-bike-w ... rear_wheel

Ideally a disc wheel like FastForward would be great but i can't justify the cost whereas a 80 / 100 might be a more flexible option: http://www.swimcyclerun.com/wheelsroad/ ... ncher.html

any advice or pointers to wheels would be great.

Get a deep rim and a disc cover to go over it when you need to ?
  • The text says 8,9, 10 speed but the option says 11 speed... I'll ask them to confirm.

Hi, the the drop down in the selection bit. 10/11 speed is stated.

    Should be fine.

As above, a Raltech cover on a 100mm rear wheel gets you (pretty close to) the best of both worlds.

If you do go with the Planet X one then Raltech have made loads for them so you don't even need to measure them up. Only slight issue I found is that the disc cover interferes slightly with the rear mech (rubs a little when you in the smallest gears) so I've had to lock out two largest cogs - not an issue for TTs and if you're tackling courses where you need a 39/25 you've probably brought the wrong bike with you.

thanks for that... always good to know these things.
  • just got a reply from planet x:
    Thank you for your email.

This wheelset is 10/11 speed compatible.

    thanks all for your help.

Or you're running too wide a cassette...

Why run a 12-25 on a TT bike ? Fit a 21 and you don't have annoying gaps between ratios.

Because it's what was in the spares box when I built the bike! Although I've not noticed any annoying gaps - 12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25. On the course I usually race I only really use 13 through to 19 so it isn't a problem.

That said, it's the rear mech body that's fouling the wheel cover so on my bike with that wheel at least, whatever cassette you use you'll still loose the last sprocket or two.
