Hi,

I'm looking at these two bikes to use mainly for commuting to work but also for general getting about and having the freedom to take shortcuts off-road and go touring on reasonable bridleways (currently have a MTB).

This is roughly the price I want to pay as I can get them on the bike to work scheme for about £650 total I think.

I ride but don't make the effort to learn anything about the various pros and cons of components - my current bike has pretty much been a great workhorse and cost me very little since I bought it second-hand in 2001.

These are the two I've narrowed it down to but as they are so new there are no reviews:

Genesis Croix de fer 10

Liv (Giant) Invite1

Also not sure whether to wait 2 weeks to see if they discount them after xmas!

Thank
