Think I may finally upgrade my edge 500.

Is the only difference with the performance bundle that it comes with the speed/cadence sensor and heart rate monitor?

I have both of these for my edge 500 so don't need them and it looks like the basic package comes with preloaded maps.

Yes, Plus an out front mount.
  • Yes - comes with maps. Not a big deal given you can download them free from other sources. The cadence and speed sensors are neater than the old versions but that may not be a good reason to go with them. The HRM I disliked initially and preferred the older version - I think I got used to it before I sent the whole lot back. If and when I ever buy the 1000 again, I probably won't bother with the performance bundle.

Chris, the maps are fully supported by Garmin so you get free map updates too.

If you are happy with your GSC10 then you could keep that but the new sensors are much less obtrusive and can be swapped between bikes in seconds.

I am the opposite of meanredspider in that I found the new HR more comfortable and 100% reliable. Each to their own.

The 1000 is a great bit of kit.

This comes with the basic package too. It's hideously ugly though and positions the unit quite high up, so I think I'm going to get a couple of the K-Edge ones.
