Hi,
Looking for a cheap tyre just to take out when its very muddy etc. What are Schwalbe Rocket Rons like?
For £12 each from Ribble seems pretty good but if they are crap then any other suggestions?
Cheers

Based on my experience this season I would say they are brilliant!
I race on a very tight budget and picked one of these up just before the season started for about the same price but since then I've only been able to find the folding ones which I'm sure are lighter and better in general but a lot more expensive at around £40. Cheers for the heads up!
I've had races this year where there has been little to no grip at all and my Rocket Ron at the back has managed to power me through where others have struggled and I run quite high pressures because I'm paranoid about pinch flats.0 -
Thanks for response. How much do they weigh? And do the clog up with mud easily?

I have the folders, I run them at about 28psi/30psi (Front and rear) for sloppy mud races and 30/35 for general trail riding where I could pinch flat on roots and rocks etc.
They clear well and after some experimentation on our group ride following the same lines as others on different tyres they really do grip well. They are a hell of a lot cheaper than an equivalent like a Challenge Limus.0 -
PS, they shed mud well and you can get folders for twenty quid each from planet x :-) For sixteen quid extra total I would get the folders.0

I've got the rigid rocket rons on my cx bike, they don't clog up, I rode through sand/clay/mud etc and they performed brilliantly. I will consider the folding tyres when I've worn these out.0

Has anyone already run these tubeless? Have a canyon on the way (if they ever deliver the thing!) with DT swiss R23 spine wheels and these tyres. Wondering if I'd have much luck running these tubeless or should try with other tyres straight off.0
