Ive got the Classic 160GB. Probably the best purchase I have ever made. I use it day in day out, my entire music library at my fingertips wherever i am.

I recognise that it will die, but I want a dedicated music player, with a battery that lasts days, not hours. Is there such a thing around?

That! Even worse for me as the headphone jack on mine is dying and only one ear works!

As for the battery life, Sony claims 32 hours of music from their overpriced NWZ-ZX1 'Video Walkman' (128GB). They have 16GB players (E585, Nano-style) that are supposed to do 77 hours.

Surely someone will fill the gap in the market. Maybe I'll start working on one...

This is my hope. I got lucky and bought a new 160GB about a month before the announcement. Hopefully if it ever biffs up there'll be another high-capacity player available.

    I just came across this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/FiiO-X5-MP3-Pla ... B00I4Q9S32

No storage built in, so it's pretty pricey compared to a Classic, but you get two micro SD card slots (currently supports 2 x 64 GB, will supposedly support 2 x 128GB with a firmware update, and eventually 2 x 256GB when the cards are available). Apparently has excellent sound and build quality, though the industrial design looks a bit like a Soviet-era copy of the iPod might have done.

Edit: They also have a cheaper single micro SD slot player that can handle a 128GB card:

Battery runtime on both players (10 hours) looks a bit feeble compared to the Classic, and the interfaces aren't as good.
